Common questions about importing and exporting through Vietnam Customs.
Vietnam uses an automated risk management system. Green Channel means goods are exempt from document and physical checks (instant clearance). Yellow Channel requires a physical check of the paper documents. Red Channel requires both a document check and a physical inspection of the actual cargo.
Generally, to import or export goods commercially, a company must be registered in Vietnam with an investment certificate and tax code. However, if you are a foreign buyer buying EXW or FCA, the Vietnamese supplier acts as the exporter of record. We coordinate directly with them to process the paperwork.
Incorrect HS code classification can lead to underpaid or overpaid duties. If discovered by customs, it can result in severe delays, cargo detention, administrative fines, and re-assessment of taxes. Our experts verify all HS codes prior to submission to eliminate this risk.
